Linden will not seek re-election for NHLPA
WHISTLER, B.C. (CP) - The harmony the NHL Players' Association hoped to find during its summer meetings remained elusive Tuesday as Trevor Linden announced he will not seek re-election as president and a group of players continued to press for Ted Saskin to be removed as the union's executive director.
Linden, who led the NHLPA through the year-long NHL lockout, said it's time for new blood to take over the union leadership.
"I think it's important for some of the good young people that we have . . . to step forward and assume some of the responsibility," said the 36-year-old native of Medicine Hat, Alta., who took over the job in 1998.
"We've got some quality people there and I'm confident they'll step forward."

Hey I also heard he is not 100% with the Canucks. Is he not a free agent? They mentioned that along with his stepping down...that they, and he, wasn't sure where he would be playing this season.
ReplyDeleteOK it says he remains a free agent and hopes to re-sign with the Canucks...so I guess it is up to the team to keep him.
ReplyDeleteNOOOO - I knew that he was a free agent - but he can't retire!! And he can't leave the Canucks... what will I do????
