Now... My Packing List

by - Sunday, April 20, 2008

Let’s just say that my list isn’t quite as exhaustive as the lists that they give on the packing website listed below… no – I will not be getting any shots before heading to Europe… and I seem to have misplaced my mictophone so I won’t be bringing that.  Here is what I have so far (I weighed my stuff in my suitcase today and I think I am at about 30 lbs. including my sleeping bag – which technically doesn’t count in the weight of my luggage)…
Shoes
  1. Ecco walking shoes (I will be wearing these on the plane)
  2. Teva-like sandals
  3. Aldo ballet flats (for going out – they are just tiny little things – even given the size of my feet)
Clothes
  1. Two pairs of capris (right now one jeans pair and one khaki pair – I may narrow that down to one pair by the time I leave)
  2. Two pairs of jeans (these are not yet in the suitcase – and I will be wearing a pair so a total of three pairs)
  3. Black pants (for going out)
  4. Six t-shirts (they are Joe brand from Superstore – which incidentally is better quality than the Old Navy ones that cost more)
  5. Two dressier shirts (one short-sleeved, one tank – which I will only wear at night since I won’t be able to wear them in churches and stuff)
  6. Underwear and socks (the socks are the expensive ones from MEC that supposedly dry quickly and are double-layered to stop blisters and such)
Toiletries/Misc. Stuff
  1. Shampoo/conditioner
  2. Travel blow-dryer/curling iron
  3. Tylenol/Advil
  4. Travel towel (microfiber)
  5. Travel alarm
  6. Travel-sized Febreeze
  7. Kleenex
  8. Contact lens solution
  9. Soap
  10. Gravol/Tums/Airborne
  11. Q-tips/hand sanitizer/deoderant
  12. Toothpaste/toothbrush
  13. Sunscreen
  14. Moleskin
  15. Make-up
  16. Laundry detergent/Tide-to-Go
Extras
  1. Camera/memory cards/batteries/charger/adaptors
  2. Passport
  3. Travel documents
  4. iPod
  5. Book for the plane
  6. Power adaptor
  7. Journal/pens
  8. Umbrella
Things I Still Need to Figure Out
  1. Sweatshirt??
  2. Jacket – I have one in mind but I am not sure if it will be enough for the top of Junfrau Mountain
  3. Toilet paper (I have heard the nightmares of the squatters!)
  4. Nintendo DS – to bring or not to bring… that is the question
  5. Bathing suit???  I am not sure if I am going to do the river rafting optional and I saw pictures on a blog and the girls were wearing bathing suits under their wetsuits…
  6. Backpack… I have decided on my largest MEC over-the-shoulder bag as my main means of carrying stuff – but the backpack may be nice to store stuff… who knows???
