Reflecting...

Tomorrow is Father's Day...

And it will be the first Father's Day ever that I don't have a father.

In February, the world lost a great man - my stepfather John. In March, the world lost a not-so-great man - my birth father. I honestly don't think I have dealt with either of the deaths... I think having Father's Day creep up on me is making me reflect over the last few months.

And really - all it makes me want to do is burn down a Hallmark or something.

Don't get me wrong - to those that still have fathers - I envy the fact that you can buy cards and have a reason to purchase ugly ties and useless BBQ utensils. Please cherish your dads... because you will never know when you won't have one anymore.

Don't take them for granted.

  2. I empathize. Yesterday was my 8th year without my dad. My mom lost her parents over 15 years ago and she says you never shake that feeling.

  3. I can't even imagine. My dad and all of us girls' are super close.

Hope the day wasn't too painful for you and you were able to remember good times.
