The R Word

by - Saturday, January 24, 2009

I feel like the blogging version of Sesame Street... last week was the D word... and now I bring you the R word.

That is rejection.

The "I'll call you sometime this week" and yet the phone never rings kind of rejection... the unanswered text kind of rejection (it was to one text sent by me yesterday - I was not text-stalking the guy or anything, just so you know)...

And now I feel guilty to say I have done the exact same thing to guys* and I didn't realize that it kind of sucks... not because I had a vested interest in the guy (two dates does not constitute a relationship - I have had to explain that to more people than I care to admit)... but because it just does.

I definitely did not wait by my phone all week - I was actually out all but one night during the week doing stuff... but still... when you say you'll call, please do.

That said, I don't expect you to have to formally break up with me on the phone when we have only had two dates. Perhaps I should come with some kind of instruction manual on how to deal with me and my dating insecurities.

Or perhaps, if you never intended to call, just say you had a good night and leave it at that. Just because we had a good time does not mean we are destined for a life together (perhaps I am the only one who thinks this though).

Fuck. Now I feel like I have to log back into the world of internet dating, which I had successfully been avoiding for two weeks. Fuckityfuckfuckfuck.

This post has been brought to you by the number 8.

* For clarification purposes... I never have said I will call, and then don't... it is usually an answered text or an unanswered message... but I am now feeling like karma is getting me on this one.

Seriously, just get back on that dating horse and break it like the wild buck that it is. I think that your post should have been brought by the letter F with that rant you went on. ;)
