Fat Day

by - Monday, March 02, 2009

This morning I changed my shirt four times.

Four freaking times!

Because I felt like a cross between a beached whale and the Pillsbury doughboy (which I am sure you can imagine is a real treat to see in the mirror).

At the end of last summer I decided I needed to lose some weight. I started my deep water aquasize twice a week and just generally tried to be more active the rest of the week.

I watched what I ate. I started writing things down. Which seems to work, since who wants to read that they ate ten brownies in a day? Not me.

Then it started to slide... but the weight that I lost (about 12 or so lbs.) stayed off. I had to buy smaller pants... I went from a size 16 to a lose 14, and have even managed to incorporate the odd size 12 into my repertoire.

Then, unfortunately my step-dad passed away. And my nightly run to Tim Horton's for a dozen doughnut because the norm.

When I got back to Calgary, my Wii Fit trainer yelled at me. I almost punched the asshat dude.

And slowly... I have gained back 7 of those 12 pounds I lost.

I am tired of fat days. Seriously. There is less than six months until my breast reduction surgery, and I want the surgery to work properly (really - if I am going under the knife I want the best possible result).

Which means I have to get my ass in gear and get back on track.

So tonight I spent an hour on the Wii Fit and I actually started sweating. I have signed back up for floor hockey. I am committed to my deep water workouts.

And I have started writing down everything that I am eating.

Because a meal of gobstoppers is not a real meal...

  1. I think a meal of gobstoppers sounds good.

I'm with you - losing weight sucks... but it is worth it and we all face set backs. I started gaining back a few weeks ago and am now less than I've been since before university... which I can't believe - you'll get there... I believe it - we will be skinny bitches - we will!

  2. Gobstoppers do not constitute a real meal, as you've pointed out, and neither does the Runts I ate for lunch all last week. I wish you all the luck in sticking to your commitments, I can say I'm not an example to follow, 3 cups of tea for dinner! Oi! Maybe I will be able to take your lead and try to follow in your footsteps with eating actual meals and being active... just maybe...

  3. i had cadbury mini eggs for breakfast.

i lost 32lbs last year on weight watchers ... then i lost my job, and my dad got sick, and i lost another job ... and since i am a total stress eater, 25lbs or so has found its way back.

it sucks, but hope that i am finally motivated to do something about it ... i am rejoining the gym this week. eek.

  4. good luck with that! I am no good with diets or writing stuff down. If i feel too much pressure, I tend to overeat.

I had to stop bootcamp for a while cus she told me not to eat certain things, then i didnt eat enough, and i stopped losing weight.

    its all so ridiculous!

  5. I was having such a hard time getting into a routine of good eating and excersise. Then I found Zumba and fell in love. It changed my workouts, my body and my lifestyle. (You don't want to work out for an hour and then eat like crap or drink). I lost 17 lbs, which was a lot for me!

Find something that you love! Then your life will change.
