Expanding My Horizons.

I may have to do it.

Something that I said I would never do.

I may just have to start looking at guys that are shorter than me.

Really... I already know that this is more my issue than theirs... I think.

All because I don't want to bend over to kiss a guy.

It stems back to university when a guy I liked actually stood on a rock to kiss me. And he wasn't that much shorter.

My other issue is a guys actual vs. publicized height. Where I tend to err on the shorter side, boys tend to err on the taller side.

So a guy that is 5'10" really is only an inch shorter than me... according to his publicized height.

Take into account some sort of small man syndrome and the publicized 5'10" actually turns in the 5'8 1/2" inches... in tall shoes.

I see lots (okay... not lots, but I do see them) of tall girls with shorter guys. And these shorter guys are cute. So really - if the guy is okay with it I should be okay too... right???

I wonder if there is some kind of 10-step program for tall girls out there?

  1. Oh my sister is the same way. She is 6'0" and her boyfriend is 5'10". They started dating years ago [like high school years ago], but she had a really hard time with it originally. She still can't wear heels, and she says that if they ever get married it will have to be on a beach so she can go barefoot, but now it is more of a running joke than an actual issue.

  2. I so hear ya on this one! I have the same problem because I'm a little over 5'10"! I never really dated too many people that were shorter, but a few.

As it turns out, DH is 5'11", so he is taller, but not by much and I wore low heels on my wedding day and was still taller - such is life!

    Good luck!

  3. Totally on track with the publicized vs. actual height...goes along with truth in advertising, don't ya think? I'm not lowering my bar yet, but let me know how that works out for you. I'm 5'10"...you must be this tall to ride this ride.

  4. I think you should give it a whirl and see what happens. By dating shorter guys you are opening yourself up to far more options.

  5. By the way, I'm one of the bitches that's 5'5" and dating a guy that's 6'6". I sincerely apologize for this.

  6. Definitely give it a go - I mean it's not like his height represents a personality flaw (like unfortunate facial might!). The poor guy can't help it! Give him a chance!

I wouldn't really know about this issue, being 5'4 and 3/4 (see NOT lying about my height!)

  8. Yeah, talk to my friend Laura. Same issue!

I, on the other hand, am a foot shorter than my husband.

  9. i am 5'8" ... not that tall, but that's even more reason why i prefer a man who is taller than me. my ex was about an inch taller than me, which was fine ... but i never wore heels, which sucked. my first boyfriend, though, was a full head taller than me (he could rest his chin on the top of my head) and i loved it ... it made me feel delicate and girly.

  10. I strongly recommend expanding those horizons. I used to be very against shorter men. Then I sucked it up, and I've been happily partnered for seven years to a guy who is about 5'8". I'm 5"11.5". We do just fine.
